Ipswich Council overcome with inertia on wages

Members of The Services Union at Ipswich City Council have clearly told us they won’t settle for a lower pay deal than what has been gained elsewhere at Council.

That’s why you have participated in protected industrial action over the last fortnight in pursuit of a wages and superannuation package totalling 10% over three years.

As your ally in the workplace, we’ve worked closely with members to set up a strike committee. The committee will take the lead on implementing future protected industrial action with a view to convincing the Council to overcome its inertia in addressing your rightful claim for wage parity.

Your contribution will help get the message through to the Council that:

  • we are yet to see any economic justification for different wage increases for different sections of the workforce;
  • your colleagues at other Councils earn substantially more than you do;
  • we have genuine concerns about Wage Relativity and the compression of Stream A employees’ salaries compared to your outdoor colleagues.

Members know we’re by your side for as long as it takes to secure a fair salary outcome.
