Remember to have your say at Redland City Council!
Following last week’s negotiations assisted by the Queensland Industrial Relations Commission (QIRC), The Services Union came away with the following revised pay offer from Redland City Council:
- 4% back-paid to May 2022
- 4% to be paid from May 2023
- The greater of 3.5% or CPI (capped at 4%) from May 2024
- On-call allowance increased to the same level as the Employees’ Certified Agreement (CA) and then indexed by the above percentages
Thanks to members who have already voted on whether to accept this offer as the basis for your new CA. If you have yet to vote, please have your say here by 5pm today.
When is an administrative change not an administrative change?
The Council has proposed some administrative changes to the draft CA, including the application of the Construction Allowance, which we are reviewing to ensure they do not inadvertently disadvantage our members. In doing so, we have unearthed a proposal for increased medical certification requirements. Clearly this is not simply an “administrative change”, and the Council did not raise it as a claim during negotiations. If we are unable to resolve this matter, and the wording of the Equal Employment Opportunity clause (a new legislative requirement), we will avail ourselves of the QIRC listing set down for this Friday.
