Is Toowoomba Regional Council overcome by intertia? You be the judge.

The Services Union is by your side irrespective of how long it is going to take to negotiate your new Certified Agreement (CA) at Toowoomba Regional Council. Last Friday the combined Unions met with the Council for the fourth time. We were hopeful to receive a response from the Council to our claims, however they were still unable to provide us with their position other than being prepared to “discuss’ them. Click here to see our Log of Claims.

The Council have been in possession of our Log of Claims since 1 March – eight weeks ago.  Delegates and Organisers involved with the negotiations feel the Council is simply delaying the process for reasons that are unknown. What do you and your colleagues think? Would you expect a response from the Council after eight weeks? We certainly would.

The combined Unions have emailed the Council requesting future meetings to occur weekly and for full days as opposed to a few hours each time. This would ensure an agreement is reached within a reasonable timeframe.

The clock is ticking as it’s only nine weeks until the current CA expires at which time decisions will need to be made.

Please direct questions to your workplace delegates: Julie-Anne Crosby, Naomi Scott, Robert Relvas, Ian Burrows and Adam Purves.

It’s clear we’re in for a long and arduous negotiation so we need you to do two things.
Remind your colleagues who aren’t in our Union that they need to join our campaign NOW if they want real improvements within a reasonable timeframe.
