UNION DELIVERS BETTER PAY AT FIRST NATIONS COUNCILS!

The Services Union has delivered a great outcome for all employees of First Nations Councils without Certified Agreements. As a result of our representation at this year’s State Wage Case in the Queensland Industrial Relations Commission (QIRC), your pay will increase by 4.6% or $40 per week (whichever is greater) as of 1 September. This is despite the Councils and their representatives from the Local Government Association of Queensland arguing that you and your colleagues only deserved a 3% increase. Without our Union’s opposition to this insulting approach to your pay, the real value of your wages would have fallen significantly behind the currently spiralling cost of living.

If you are a member of our Union, you can share in the credit for helping to achieve this result. If you’re not a member, or you work with someone who isn’t, there’s never been a better time to become one of us! Not only does your membership contribute to better pay outcomes, it also provides you access to workplace advice and support, and free professional development training. The Services Union is your voice in First Nations Councils and Communities. Joining is easy here.
