What's really going on at Moreton Bay Regional Council

The Service’s Union knows how important it is to maintain the real value of your pay at Moreton Bay Regional Council, and we’re by your side throughout these prolonged negotiations for your new Certified Agreement (CA). The key issue is that the Council won’t come to grips with the fact that CPI sits at 6.1% nationally (7.3% for Brisbane) and underlying inflation is now 4.9%. Rather than discuss an appropriate pay offer with us, the Council is intent on raking over every miniscule negotiation detail to try and convince you that its offer of 3.5% is acceptable. The CEO’s recent reference to our settlement at Ipswich City Council earlier in the year ignores the fact that we negotiate pay increases in real time.

Your fellow members at Gympie Regional Council yesterday walked off the job to protest an annual pay proposal of 3.5%. Congratulations to you and your colleagues for successfully and overwhelmingly voting to support protected industrial action in your workplace. We’ll be in touch shortly to outline what the action might look like. In the meantime, let your non-member colleagues know what’s really going on, and if they want to contribute to an acceptable pay increase, joining is easy online.
