What members want at Gympie Regional Council

Gympie Regional Council says it wants to improve culture and foster better relationships and trust with you. But members of The Services Union know that the Council’s actions tell a different story!

Whether the Council’s current offer of 10.5% over three years is front-loaded or not, it is still 10.5% over three years. Inflation this year alone could get close to that amount. This is the reality of the current economic situation we are in. National CPI is currently sitting at 6.1% (7.3% for Brisbane) and the underlying rate of inflation is an unprecedented 4.9%!

Remember that the Council’s offer until recently was just 1.5% each year. Members of our Union rejected that offer time and time again at the bargaining table. Don’t hesitate to remind your colleagues who aren’t members of this.

Members of The Services Union seek a wage increase that on the one hand gets you through this current cost-of-living crisis and on the other hand reflects the value of your work and productivity. Clearly, the Council’s current offer of 10.5% over three years does not address either of these issues.

Your Workplace Delegates and Union Officials will be at Hatch Café tomorrow (Thursday) morning from 10am so you can catch up for a free coffee and a chat on your morning break.

Only Union members get a say on our next steps. Encourage your colleagues to get on board. Joining is easy online .
