Union progresses negotiations at Mackay Regional Council

The Services Union met with Mackay Regional Council yesterday for further negotiations regarding your new Certified Agreement.

The Council provided its initial responses to all Unions’ claims, and made a pay offer based on a two-year agreement as follows:

Stream A:

First year - $1000 increase to base salary rate (based on acceptance of fortnightly pays) plus 4% applied after base increase

Second year – 4.5%

Stream B & C:

First year - $1000 uplift to base salary plus $1000 increase to base salary rate (based on acceptance of fortnightly pays) plus 4% applied after base increase plus the potential gaining of locality allowance of up to $37.30 per fortnight.

Second year – 4.5%

According to council’s presentation this would mean an average increase of 5.1% for indoor staff. Outdoor workers stand to gain 7.3% in year one for but that figure does not take into account the payment of locality allowance if the Council does decide to implement this.

We will run a critical eye over all aspects of the Council’s proposal and seek your feedback.

In the meantime, please contact your workplace delegates: Kate Cotter (Gordon Street/Sarina), Kendel Russo, (Gordon Street), Anna Kahler, Vicki Booth (Jubilee Centre), Duncan Ross (Wellington Street), Aaron Ward (Paget Depot), Kath Evans (Gordon White Library), Shannon DeSilva (Dudley Denny Library), and, Sharon Stephen (Mirani Depot).
