Union commences negotiations at Mackay Regional Council

The Services Union met with Mackay Regional Council yesterday to commence discussions regarding your new Certified Agreement (CA).

The Council tabled its log of claims which contained requests for a two-year agreement and fortnightly pay. While the Council did not table a pay offer, it proposed to increase parental leave for the birthing partner from 6 to 12 weeks.

The rest of council’s claims were mainly headline-type statements that will require further discussion to flush out the details. We will keep you informed as details come to hand. Our Union will return to the table on Thursday 15 February, at which point we will table our log of claims, which has now been endorsed across all member meetings.

If you have any questions or would like more details please contact your workplace delegates Kate Cotter (Gordon Street/Sarina), Kendel Russo, (Gordon Street), Anna Kahler (Jubilee Centre), Duncan Ross (Wellington Street), Aaron Ward (Paget Depot), Kath Evans (Gordon White Library), Shannon DeSilva (Dudley Denny Library), and, Sharon Stephen (Mirani Depot).

In the meantime, if you have any colleagues who are not members of your union and want to contribute to the best possible CA, tell them joining is easy online.
