Union begins bargaining at Isaac Regional Council!

As your ally in the workplace at Isaac Regional Council, The Services Union understands the importance of being by your side from the very beginning of the bargaining process. Today we met with the Council in Dysart to exchange logs of claims and commence discussions around your new Certified Agreement (CA).

The Council’s log contained some positive indicators, including commitment to using the existing agreement as the basis for discussions, and proposed increases to bereavement leave and parental leave. The Council also tabled a the following pay offer:

  • 4% from 1 July 2023
  • 4% from 1 July 2024
  • 3.5% from 1 July 2025

However, this proposal needs to be considered in the context of the current economic indicators, with underlying inflation presently sitting at 6.9%.

We will resume discussions with the Council in Clermont on Thursday 15 and Friday 16 March. In the meantime, you can review our log of claims here  and the Council’s log here . Please refer any questions to your workplace delegates:

  • Murray Tyler (Nebo)
  • Bianca Merritt, Terese Wilcock, Kelly Shepherd (Moranbah)
  • Tracey Williams (Dysart)
  • Ann Mison, Cathy Furness (St Lawrence)
  • Claire Griffiths (Clermont)

While we’ve only just begun our negotiation journey, we know from experience that a strong Union is always the best asset when it comes to delivering an acceptable outcome. If you work with someone who is not yet a member and wants a CA that helps you keep pace with the cost of living, remind them that joining is easy online.
