Union achieves improved offer at Cassowary Coast Regional Council

Members will be keen to learn the outcome of the conference conducted in the Queensland Industrial Relations Commission today. With the assistance of Industrial Commissioner McLennan, a package of wage increases and improvements to some conditions has been developed for Union members to consider.

The package comprises the following:

  • Backdate the administrative increase of 3.3% to 3 December 2022
  • Increase wages by 3.7% from first full period after 1 July 2023
  • Increase wages by 4% from first full period after 1 July 2024
  • Increase wages by 3.5% from first full period after 1 July 2025
  • Increase paid parental leave to 14 weeks (up from 4 weeks in the current Certified Agreement) after 12 months of service for the primary carer
  • Increase to two weeks paid leave for secondary carer (up from 1 week in the current Certified Agreement)
  • For Stream A employees increase to on call allowance to $40 per day for each day (up from $17.43)

This is a very solid outcome after a lengthy negotiation. Members of the Services Union will have the opportunity to vote on the package in the next few weeks. Reading this and not in the Union?  Join online here.
