Tablelands tables bland pay offer

The Services Union commenced negotiations with Tablelands Regional Council yesterday for your new Certified Agreement (CA). We exchanged and explained our respective logs of claims.

The Council has apparently only budgeted for 2.2% annual wage increases. We told the Council that it would need to drastically improve that offer. The underlying inflation rate is an unprecedented 4.9%, and the Reserve Bank of Australia predicts the cost of living will increase further before it starts to subside. Given current economic concerns, our Union cannot see any merit in the Council’s claim to lock in a four-year agreement.

A copy of our Union’s log is available here for your reference. We will circulate the Council’s log once we receive an electronic copy. In the meantime, if you have any questions, please contact your Workplace Delegates Jimmy Bosanquet or Caroline O’Reilly.

Our Union will be by your side as long as it takes to achieve an outcome appropriate to the current economic situation. We know from experience that strong membership is the key to a fair deal. Remind your colleagues of the work we’re doing on behalf of our Local Government members Queensland-wide, and encourage anyone not already a member to join online today.
