Restoring respect for our sector | ASU members take the campaign to Canberra

Did you see us in Parliament last week?

37 ASU members working in community and disability from across Australia came to Parliament last week for one reason: to restore respect to our sector.

ASU members know what is needed in our sector and we have a plan. We met with 65+ MPs and senators over 2 BIG days to gain support for:

  • Changing the way we fund community services by introducing longer term funding cycles and 6-year funding contracts
  • Ensuring fair wages across community services and ending the race to the bottom in wages and conditions.
  • Ensuring essential services are not run for profit
  • Supporting and funding the vital work of advocacy by ending gag clauses
  • Making the NDIS the best it can be by ensuring NDIS pricing will support better jobs and making sure all workers delivering NDIS supports are covered by the SCHADS Award, and have access to Equal Pay rates
  • Creating portable entitlements for all NDIS workers and ensuring that NDIS workers do not lose their accrued entitlements as they move between employers
  • Creating portable training entitlements for NDIS that provides all workers with ongoing accredited training to build careers and specialisations in the NDIS

This is just the beginning! ASU members are keeping the pressure on across Australia to restore respect in the community sector and make the NDIS the best it can be.

Show your support and share this on Facebook.

Forward to a workmate in the sector and let them know then can join here to be part of the movement for a strong community and disability sector: http://www.theservicesunion.com.au/join
