Nowhere left to hide for South Burnett Regional Council

Through all the twists and turns that the bargaining process throws up, The Services Union is by your side at South Burnett Regional Council to make sure you get the Certified Agreement (CA) you deserve. Yesterday’s CA meeting once again demonstrated the Council’s unacceptable attitude towards bargaining. Rather than taking the opportunity to do the right thing and re-table its initial offer of 5% per year, the Council doubled down on its revised offer of 4% per year.

Clearly this outrageous approach to your pay is not bargaining in good faith and clearly it has gone on long enough. As your ally in the workplace, our Union is eager to hold the Council to account and get the process back on track. The quickest and most effective way to achieve this is to seek the assistance of the Queensland Industrial Relations Commission (QIRC) and today we have done just that.

We will update you once we have a QIRC listing, and we look forward to asking the Council to explain to the Commissioner why it thinks its twist-and-turn bargaining approach is justified. In the meantime, remind your colleagues of the work we’re doing to keep the Council accountable, and if you work with someone who is not yet a member, joining is easy online.
