North Burnett Regional Council - Have your say on pay offer!

Members of The Services Union at North Burnett Regional Council know that we win the best bargaining outcomes collectively. That’s why we work together to ensure the voices of all members are heard loudly and clearly!

Our Union has tabled your log of claims to the Council, and clearly set out your bargaining priorities. We have also received the Council’s opening offer.

We have already identified some contentious issues in the Council’s offer, including:
  • Smaller wage increases over a longer agreement – the Council is only proposing 2% annually, and for four years!
  • Removal of sick leave payout
  • Regular weekend rostering for some employees (Local Laws, Water/Waste Water, Community Services and RM Williams Centre)
  • Ability to delay lunch breaks without overtime
  • Ability for the Council to vary conditions of employment via an Individual Flexibility Agreement, including hours of work, overtime rates, penalty rates, allowances and leave loading
Members have already flagged real concerns about the Council’s pay offer and with good reason – underlying inflation is currently 4.9% and the coming years are uncharted economic territory. Our strong view is that there rarely a valid reason to trade away conditions – especially when all you’d have to show for it would effectively be a pay cut!

We need to hear your views to help inform our response to the Council’s proposal. Please print this survey and return completed to your Workplace Delegates Vicki, Scott or Mark, or via email to [email protected].

Only members will shape our approach to your new Certified Agreement, so if you work with someone who is not yet contributing to a better outcome, remind them that joining is quick, easy and confidential online.
