Members push for fair pay by the Bay!

Congratulations to all members of The Services Union at Redland City Council who walked off the job for a better pay on Thursday 15 September!

Your commitment deserves nothing short of applause, especially because you turned out in record numbers following a week of intimidation from the Council.

For now, we will regroup, continue to build our strength, and strategise around our next steps. As always, we remain open to discussions if the Council wishes to table a revised offer appropriate to the current economic circumstances and the productivity you have delivered over the life of the current Certified Agreement.

With the underlying rate of inflation (currently at an unprecedented 4.9%) tipped to rise even further, these are complex economic times. We encourage you to celebrate the fact that by stopping work this week, you’ve taken the first serious steps towards doing something to rectify the situation. Remind your colleagues of what you’re working towards, and encourage anyone who is not yet sharing the load to join the collective in pursuit of a fair pay deal.
