Members have spoken at Sunshine Coast Council!

The results are in, and it’s no surprise that members of The Services Union have voted decisively and overwhelmingly to endorse Protected Industrial Action in support of a better pay offer at Sunshine Coast Council! Congratulations to all members of our Union – you have clearly demonstrated that you are serious about doing something practical towards getting a better offer out of a Council that is all talk and no action.

When – and if – a QIRC listing ever comes through, we’ll tell the Commissioner what members have been telling us to say to the Council for months: that it needs to start taking notice of the current economic indicators, and stump up with an offer that meaningfully addresses the fact that you have drifted significantly behind your colleagues at neighbouring Councils.

While we await a QIRC listing, we’ll continue taking practical steps towards getting the job done, including obtaining authorisation from the Industrial Registry for you to start taking action. If you have any questions or would like to be on our Union’s Strike Committee in your workplace, please contact your bargaining committee delegates (Chris Mehonoshen, Davina Allanson and Jenelle Harrap) or your Organiser Jason Shepherd  . Only members can participate in protected action, so if you work with someone who is not yet on board and wants to contribute to a better deal, point them towards our website’s join page.
