Members deliver at Whitsunday Regional Council!

Thanks to the resolve of members of The Services Union, Whitsunday Regional Council employees will receive a 4% pay increase backdated to February 2022 and a 3.75% increase effective February 2023. Long-term staff can rest assured that the Service Recognition clause will remain in the Certified Agreement (CA) with the option for either a watch or voucher upon reaching the 25-year milestone.

That is the result our Union achieved as an improved offer from the Council at last week’s discussions before the Queensland Industrial Relations Commission (QIRC) in Proserpine, and that is the result our members unanimously voted to support. We have notified the Council of the vote result, and we now await a copy of the final draft of the new CA. Once we have reviewed the draft CA to ensure it contains everything agreed to at the table and at the QIRC, we will notify the Council so the document can go to a staff ballot.

Congratulations to Jack Flowerday on stepping up as a Workplace Delegate and participating in the QIRC-assisted discussions. If you have any further questions, please don't hesitate to contact either Jack or your Organiser, Glenn Desmond . Remind your colleagues that thanks to you and your fellow members, all Council staff are now better off. For anyone who appreciates the win and is not yet a member, remind them that joining is easy online.
