Let’s get ready to roll at City of Gold Coast!

The Services Union met with City of Gold Coast earlier this week to commence negotiations for your new Certified Agreement (CA). If you’ve read the Council’s update, you’ll know that we’re not in for an easy road. The Council’s proposed pay offer of 11% over three years clearly doesn’t recognise the fact that underlying inflation still sits at 5.9% nationally and your pay is slipping behind. There are also the obvious issues associated with the Council’s desire to remove all Local Area Agreements and adopt fortnightly pays.

As with most Local Government negotiations in the current round, there is clearly significant work to be done at the bargaining table. Our Union has achieved workable results at other Councils, and it’s incumbent upon all of us to press for similar outcomes here. The first task is to finalise our log of claims for the next meeting on Tuesday 19 September. You can help make this happen by taking our online survey – which we have sent to all members – by 5pm on Tuesday 12 September.

If you have not received your survey link, please contact us as soon as possible.
