Improved back pay is coming your way

Following Virgin Australia's decision to pay the Customer Excellent payment in the current pay run and not in an off-pay run week, the ASU has advocated that the Airline rectify its actions.

Despite the Airline processing the payment, we negotiated further with the Company. As a result, Virgin Australia has now committed to calculating back pay for the new Enterprise Agreement, covering all remuneration components, including the following:

  1. salary,
  2. allowances,
  3. penalties,
  4. loadings, and
  5. overtime.

The back pay will be calculated from 1 July 2023. This positive development ensures that more money will find its way into your pockets.

The back payment and additional components will align with the proposed Enterprise Agreement implementation timeline. A specific date is unavailable at this stage, and our next steps are to work through the Fair Work Commission approval process.

Once the Enterprise Agreement is approved, it is imperative for all union members to campaign to ensure that Virgin upholds our hard-earned conditions. We can achieve this by acting collectively and holding managers accountable.  If you know someone who has not yet joined the TSU, please encourage them to unite with union members nationwide by visiting https://www.theservicesunion.com.au/tsu/join
