DCR EBA UPDATE

Since our last bargaining meeting in May our union has undertaken a thorough review of your role at Direct Care Resources (DCR). We have surveyed workers, undertaking a review of your position description, policy documents and hearing first-hand from union members at DCR.

It is clear from our review that those DCR staff working in the NDIS system are Disability Support Workers and not Home Care workers as defined under the Social, Community, Home Care & Disability Services (SCHADS) Award 2010.

By classifying you incorrectly your employer is making their profits by taking advantage of clients, undercutting workers, and exploiting the taxpayer funded NDIS system. It goes without saying that this is an unfair arrangement.

What’s next?

We are focused on ensuring that union members have a comprehensive understanding of the situation at DCR. We will hold further discussions with DCR management over the coming month to ensure that they understand our position and their obligations. Once this issue is resolved, bargaining for a new enterprise agreement can recommence.

In this current situation, we are left with three options:

  1. We do nothing and wait for the house of cards to fall
  2. We bargain our way out
  3. We utilise the legal options available to us
