Attention Redland City CEO - The world is moving on!

As your ally in the workplace, The Services Union will continue to challenge Redland City Council’s unconvincing arguments for sub-par wage increases!

Our Union recently wrote to the Council requesting a further negotiation meeting, to which the Council responded with a suggestion of 19 October. We have confirmed our attendance at this meeting and requested the CEO attend. You can view our correspondence to this effect here.

We plan to spell out to the CEO what we have been saying for some time now. Simply put, 3%, 3.5% and 3.5% does not cut the mustard with inflation in Brisbane running at 7.3%. This is just as likely to trend upwards as downwards in the September quarter, which the Australian Bureau of Statistics will publish in the coming weeks.

The world is moving on, and our members are achieving better wage outcomes at other Queensland Councils – Whitsunday 4%, Gold Coast 4% + $500 and Brisbane Council $2000 on the base rate of pay + 4%!

We hope and expect that the CEO will front up to the bargaining table and have a frank discussion about a pay increase that recognises your cost-of-living pressures as well as the vital work you perform for your community.
