What Leave Do I Access When Isolating or Getting Tested for COVID?

Understanding Your Leave Entitlements at Centacare

Members of The Services Union have had questions about their leave entitlements when isolating or being tested for COVID. Our Union reached out to Centacare to clarify this issue.

Following our Union’s inquiry, Centacare have confirmed that since 15 December 2021, there have been some inconsistencies in the application of leave protocols for COVID testing and isolation. This has led to payroll errors for some workers.

Our Union knows isolating and/or testing for COVID is stressful enough. Workers shouldn’t have to worry about accessing leave entitlements on top of it all. Therefore, our Union is helping members who have been impacted by this from 15 December 2021 onwards.

Union members at Centacare fight every day to make sure your workplace is one that is safe, fair, and respectful. We know mistakes can happen and this issue is a clear example. Sometimes things will go wrong – and when they do, our Union will be by your side.

However, it’s important to know that being a Union member comes with perks, too. Not only do you get support and advice with any work-related questions, but you can also save money on day-to-day purchases such as petrol, home goods, travel – the list goes on.
