Queensland Rail - Train Control Multi-Board Dispute
As members may be aware, between 22 and 23 October 2025, our Union represented members at a two-day hearing in the Fair Work Commission, where our Union, along with the RTBU, sought to hold Queensland Rail to account for failing to implement the Multi-Board Safeworking Allowance for control room employees.
The allowance was intended to be implemented through working parties for each control room, and while we maintain that agreement was reached in RC1 and Townsville, Queensland Rail has refused to implement the outcome.
Our Union was represented by Senior Industrial Officer, Ben Ellis, with evidence provided by delegates Joshua, Nick, and Phil. Each of these delegates has been deeply involved throughout the working party process that developed and refined the allowance proposals.
“At the hearing, Josh, Nick and Phil conducted themselves with real integrity and composure” said Ben Ellis. “Their contribution throughout this process reflects the kind of leadership and character that make a genuine difference in our workplaces.”
We will be shortly filing our written final submissions, after which the matter will be determined by the Fair Work Commission. While the outcome is in the Commission’s hands, members can be confident that we presented a strong, fair and well-prepared case on behalf of all control room employees.
Thank you again to all members and delegates for your ongoing support.
The Services Union is by your side.
