Take our Survey – Preparing for Possible Industry Changes.

Social & Communities October 1, 2021

At The Services Union, we want all our members to be safe especially now during this pandemic. We recognise that there are many different views about vaccinations, including the vaccinations on offer for immunisation against Covid 19.

We are not medical experts, so we have consistently followed the advice of the Chief Medical Officer of Queensland and been guided in relation to the industrial relations aspects by the Unions’ peak body, the ACTU.

Vaccination should not be mandatory unless the medical authorities require it.  Now, residential aged care workers must be vaccinated. We want to help you be ready in case the disability industry also becomes subject to mandatory vaccination.  Now, vaccination is recommended by Health Departments across the country for both workers and clients in your industry, and is currently voluntary in Queensland.

As of 27 September 2021, close to 75% of your industry colleagues across Australia have now received their first dose of the vaccine and close to 60% are fully vaccinated.*

From the member survey we carried out in July, it was clear that the Federal Government needs to ensure that it makes as much information available as possible about the vaccine roll out to ensure everyone is fully informed about the vaccination options.

Please take a few minutes to tell us where you are now up to in your vaccine journey by flling out this short survey.

The Services Union has been actively seeking support from employers to support our members who are are making the choice to get vaccinated to not lose pay or leave.  Please click here to see a list of employers who have responded positively to our call for this.

If you need our assistance, please call Services Connect on 3844 5300.

Don’t forget to fill out our short survey.
