Union Advances Members’ Interests at Gold Coast JCC and Beyond
The Services Union led discussions on several ongoing issues at last Thursday’s City of Gold Coast Joint Consultative Committee (JCC).
Council tabled an update around the ongoing Fleet Branch review and our Union looks forward to receiving more information as this process continues.
Your Workplace Delegates requested additional information to satisfy concerns about the way in which Council is currently conducting medical assessments. We have had extensive discussions about the nature of information being collected and how it is being used. Our Union will discuss next steps with members once we receive appropriate information.
The immunisation review was also on the agenda, however our Union requested that further discussions be parked until the next JCC, given that key players are currently absent from the workplace. Council agreed to this request.
Additionally, The Services Union and the other Single Bargaining Unit (SBU) unions met with Council prior to the JCC to work towards finalising the drafting of the proposed new Certified Agreement (CA). Our key concern is ensuring that the CA’s wording accurately reflects the in-principle position reached at the end of the recent conciliation facilitated by the Queensland Industrial Relations Commission. Stay tuned for further updates.
In other news, our Union is investigating allegations of workplace bullying. We will send further correspondence about this shortly. Please talk to your Workplace Delegate if this issue affects you.
