The Union Has Your Back At Fraser Coast Regional Council!
You and your fellow members of The Services Union at Fraser Coast Regional Council continue to deliver for your employer and your community. You’ve done so in the face of changed circumstances and in many cases have had to pivot to work-from-home arrangements which produce obvious cost savings for the Council.
Our Union met with the Council for further Certified Agreement (CA) discussions on Tuesday. The Council tabled its revised annual pay offer of 2% or $25 per week.
We reiterated that the issue of attracting and retaining staff is not helped by Fraser Coast salaries being the lowest amongst Category 4 Councils. Your employer’s current offer would not address this, as per the following table:
All up, we had robust and constructive discussion which we will continue on Wednesday 15 September. In the meantime, we have worked closely with the other unions to provide a revised, consolidated proposal with a view to a timely settlement. The Council has committed to considering this proposal, which is as follows:
• Pay Increase:
o First Year: 2.5% or $40/week
o Second Year: 2.7%, CPI or $40/week
o Third Year: 3%, CPI or $40/week.
• Employer superannuation contributions to remain 3% above legislated Superannuation Guarantee.
• Expanded LGEG provisions
• All improvements already negotiated
ABS data indicates public sector wages have fallen to a 24-year low. Your employer can stimulate the local economy with a decent pay rise to enable you to spend more in your region. Members know we have your back for as long as it takes to make this happen. If you work with someone who is not yet a member of our Union, they can help too by joining at www.theservicesunion.com.au.
