Southern Downs – Full Bench Hearing Update
Over the last two days The Services Union has represented members at Southern Downs Regional Council in the Queensland Industrial Relations Commission (QIRC) Full Bench Arbitration on whether Stream A staff keep your nine-day fortnight. The hearing has finished a day early, as all witnesses have been questioned.
Several members of our Union provided evidence and did an outstanding job in informing the QIRC how Council’s claim introduce a 19-day month for all indoor staff would affect them.
We now await the full transcripts of the hearing. Once the parties receive these, Council and the unions have 28 days to submit their written closing statements.
Your Delegates Sue Harrold, Kate Duell and Sam Shelbourn are to be applauded for the great work they have done in representing your interests and assisting the Union during the negotiations process and the various QIRC hearings.
