Scenic Rim Regional Council – Final Bargaining Update for 2020
The Services Union participated in the final Certified Agreement (CA) negotiation for 2020 at Scenic Rim Regional Council yesterday.
We have agreed in-principle on the wording around status quo in the dispute resolutions procedure.
Discussions are ongoing regarding on-call provisions, volunteer emergency services leave arrangements, parental leave, and use of sick leave.
We commenced serious discussions on the Council’s four-day week proposal, with management representatives nominating staff attraction/retention and better plant and fleet utilisation as the Council’s drivers for the proposition. All parties agreed to give the proposal careful consideration and participate in further discussions; however we tabled our key concern (supported by the outdoor Unions) that no member should be left financially worse-off if the proposal were accepted.
Fortnightly negotiations will resume in 2021 from Thursday 4 February.
We wish you and your family a happy and safe holiday season.
