Scenic Rim Regional Council Consultative Update

Local Authorities May 21, 2020

The Services Union attended yesterday’s Joint Consultative Committee (JCC) with the other unions at Scenic Rim Regional Council.  We discussed the following:

  • Council congratulated The Services Union on the successful introduction of ten days’ Pandemic Leave via Award variation which remains in force until 30 June;
  • Council advised that Certified Agreement negotiations will not commence until the government lifts Covid-19 restrictions.  However, Council will review this position weekly as the situation evolves;
  • The Boonah Depot lunchroom is now complete, with confirmation that all furniture has been delivered;
  • Union noticeboards are now situated in all locations other than Beaudesert lunchroom, which will be installed shortly;
  • Regarding travel between ‘work from home’ and the office, Council stated its position is that such travel does not count as time worked and should be conducted during breaks.

The next JCC will be on Tuesday 30 June.  Please direct any queries to your Workplace Delegates. Share this update with your colleagues, and remind any non-members that the key to successfully navigating the future is strong Union membership. Our members can also access a range of great benefits, including the next round of free ASU Career Launchpad learning modules http://asucareerlaunchpad.tln.org.au/
