Mackay Regional Council Management Believes You Are Worth Less
As a hard working employee at Mackay Regional Council (MRC) it seems extremely unfair that your employer wants to give outdoor staff a higher wage increase than you!
Luckily, The Services Union is always by your side and pointed this major discrepancy out to MRC management yesterday in a meeting.
While there has been an increase in Council’s wage offer, it’s still extremely problematic!
|Stream A (indoor)||Stream B and C (outdoor)|
|Year 1||1% (back paid to 1 July 2020)||1% (back paid to 1 July 2020) + $250 increase to base salary|
|Total Increase||7.75%||9.25% + $250 increase to base salary|
In the meeting, MRC management refused to tell our Union why they think that Stream B and C should get higher wage increases for the life of the Certified Agreement (CA).
We can tell you, that the relativities between outdoor and indoor wages (C10=L1.3) at MRC are absolutely fine.
If these proposed increases were to happen it would mean that the C10 Trades (outdoor) wage would exceed that of the Level 1.3 (indoor) wage.
If MRC management is concerned that a long term C10 employee is still getting the same salary as a Level 1.3 indoor staff member then Council might want to consider reclassifying these C10 employees to improve their salary rather than using this example to try and divide the indoor and outdoor staff!
We believe, all staff deserve the same wage increase!
We would love to hear your feedback and invite you to come along to one of the paid time meetings listed below.
