Ipswich City Council Negotiations Head To Commission

Local Authorities June 23, 2022

The Services Union will attend the Queensland Industrial Relations Commission (QIRC) tomorrow to discuss your next Certified Agreement (CA) with Ipswich City Council. The conference will be convened by Industrial Commissioner Pidgeon.

This will be the Council’s last chance to resolve the outstanding issue of your pay by agreement before the matter is referred for determination by a Full Bench of the QIRC.

As you all know, the Council’s offer has been significantly eclipsed by movements in the economy over the last 12 months. We will be having a discussion in the QIRC about the Council’s first proposed pay increase of 2.5% while the Brisbane CPI for the March quarter is sitting at 6% and the Reserve Bank of Australia is confidently predicting that inflation will worsen before it improves.

What’s the Council’s answer to this?

You cop a dud deal for three years which includes a massive cut to the real value of your wages.

Doesn’t sound very appealing, does it?

That’s what The Services Union will be telling the Commissioner tomorrow. Know someone who is not a member and wants to help you to press the case? Encourage them to join here.
