Gold Coast Library Members Resume Work
Last week The Services Union lodged appeals in the Queensland Industrial Relations Commission (QIRC) on behalf of City of Gold Coast libraries members seeking that their stand-downs be rescinded. Due to easing of pandemic restrictions and libraries having been allowed to reopen since last month, our Union could see no reason why any library staff should not be back at work. We’re happy to report that following the QIRC hearing, all members who sought a return are now back at work, and a lot sooner than if our Union had not intervened.
City of Gold Coast libraries members know that we have been by your side right from the start of the pandemic. We ensured that members and delegates had input into the consultation process when The City appeared to want to send you home with minimum of notice or discussion. We successfully negotiated special pandemic leave with The City. And we now stand ready to ensure that our members’ return to work is a safe one. If you’re not a member of our Union, now’s the time to get on board. It’s easy at www.theservicesunion.com.au.
