Equal Pay at Moreton Bay!
The Services Union has won back equal pay at Moreton Bay Regional Council!
After a ten-month negotiation hiatus, our Union’s bargaining team met today with Council management. CEO Darryl Hitzman advised that following discussions with the Union, Council has agreed to phase out the two-tier wage structure from July 2019.
The lower tier will be lifted annually, reducing the gap by 40% in the first year, then 30% in the second and third years. We will discuss further details with Council next Wednesday 5 June.
This is a significant victory for union members who held out against a hostile Council which actively promoted inequality in the workforce.
