CEO LOSES CONTROL OF MANAGERS AT CENTRAL HIGHLANDS REGIONAL COUNCIL
The Services Union is always by your side in your workplace but unfortunately your employer – Central Highlands Regional Council (CHRC) is not!
Unfortunately, our Union has had to lodge dispute after dispute in the Queensland Industrial Relations Commission (QIRC) on your behalf. On multiple occasions, we have had to have these matters ruled upon by a Commissioner.
Just last week, we lodged a dispute in the QIRC as a result of Council failing to consult on a major workplace change within the planning team. This resulted in the QIRC ordering Council management to consult, as required, by your Certified Agreement (CA).
We have also recently had to lodge disputes because Council management has tried to employ people outside the CA, and have also had to lodge a dispute due to Council refusing a flexible work arrangement for a new parent!
It’s just not good enough!
These disputes are a result of certain Council managers thinking they can just make up the rules as they go along. They have either failed to read the CA, or have decided they don’t need to follow provisions within the CA.
It’s either a blatant disregard for what is right or just plain incompetence.
We are currently bargaining for a new CA, but it’s becoming increasingly clear that some managers are not willing to adhere to what is even contained in your current CA!
Our Union is with you every step of the way and we are making sure your workplace rights and conditions are respected.
With strong union membership, we will combat Councils ignorant approach!
Please forward the important news to your colleagues and if they are not yet by your side in being a union member – ask them to join at https://www.theservicesunion.com.au/member-information/join/
