Important Message – Bushfires and Natural Disaster Leave

Our thoughts are with all members, family and friends who may be affected by the bushfires in Queensland.

A state of emergency has been declared in 42 local government areas across the State.

You may be eligible for Natural Disaster Leave at your workplace.

NATURAL DISASTER FUND – You May be Eligible

Are you a financial member of The Services Union who has suffered loss and hardship due to the bushfires?

If so, you may be eligible for some financial assistance from The Services Union’s Natural Disaster Fund.

WHAT IS THE FUND?

The Services Union Natural Disaster Fund offers some financial assistance to members who have suffered loss and hardship as a consequence of a natural disaster.

To qualify for assistance from The Services Union Natural Disaster Relief Fund, the following criteria must be met:

  1. You must have been a financial member of the Union immediately prior to the natural disaster to qualify for access to The Services Union Natural Disaster Relief Fund; and
  2. You have suffered significant loss to your owner occupied principal place of residence and be uninsured or your claim for insurance rejected; or
  3. You have suffered a significant loss of your essential household items and be uninsured or your claim for insurance rejected.

You must inform The Services Union that you have experienced hardship and outline the nature of the hardship.
