Youth Committee

Young workers are the future of our society and our Union. They symbolise the hope for a better tomorrow and provide strength to our communities and workplaces. Young people represent modern progressive social values and remind us that the values of young people and the values of our union are inextricably linked.

Young workers have told us that it’s important to them that everyone gets a fair go, everyone is treated equally, people are free to express themselves, the environment is protected, that they are able to have flexible work hours, their workplace is clean and safe and they have opportunities for professional development.

In pursuit of these values our Union regularly engages with and empowers young people within their community and workplace. The Services Union Youth Committee is also keen to give young people an opportunity to have a greater say in our Union. The committee is comprised of various members across our industries with the aim of advocating for the progressive principles of social justice, economic fairness, environmental sustainability and to gain  greater cooperation and participation of young people in the workplace and in our Union.
