Branch Council
The broad objectives of The Services Union (its reason for existing) are set out in our rules. These objectives were established at the time our Union was formed. The role of the Branch Council is to interpret these objectives in the current day setting and then determines the recommendations for consideration of the Executive setting the strategic objectives which are the priorities for our Union.
The recommendations made at the Branch Council once adopted by our Executive are formed into strategic industry objectives and operational plans that then guide the work of our Union for the next 12 months to two years. The Branch Executive monitors the allocation of resources to these plans in order to ensure that the Branch Council recommendations are implemented.
There are 64 Branch Councillor positions which are elected every four years by the Membership of The Services Union. Branch Councillors sit on our Union’s Council for a four year period.
