Brimbank Aquatic Centre employee targeted for speaking up about No Vote

03 June 2025

On Sunday 1 June, your co-worker posted on Slack about why she was voting against management’s offer. She’s a third year university student who has worked as a Duty Manager at the Aquatic Centre since 2023.

Her post was up for 8 minutes before being taken down.

The next day, this young woman was kicked off Slack and had her Membership access to Brimbank facilities removed.

It appears she has been sacked for daring to communicate with your co-workers about management’s offer.

You and your co-workers should not be subjected to intimidating behaviour because you express an opinion about your rights at work.

This behaviour is unacceptable and may even be unlawful.

You and your co-workers need to send management a clear message that intimidation will not be tolerated.

The first step is to demand respect and Vote No to this offer.

If the offer is voted down, the next step is to fight for a fair pay rise and better conditions through MEB with workers at 10 other Melbourne councils.

It is up to you and your co-workers to demand respect and stand up to poor behaviour.
