Sunshine Coast Council bargaining update #6
The Services Union (TSU) met with Sunshine Coast Council on Wednesday, 29 April 2026, for our sixth bargaining meeting for your new Certified Agreement.
What we heard from you
At recent roadshows (Caloundra Depot, City Hall and Nambour), many members raised concerns about a proposed 4-year agreement due to uncertainty. A shorter, 2-year agreement was strongly preferred.
We put this position to Council on your behalf, and Council has agreed to move to a 2-year term.
Council’s updated wage offer
• 2026: 4% + $1,000 (pro-rata for part-time employees)
• 2027: 3.5%
Key issues still on the table
Council is still proposing to:
• Change how Personal Leave accrues and make staff pay back any balances owing to Council due to their system issue dating back to 2019.
• Remove the definition of Emergency Work.
• Change the On-Call payment ($60) from per day to per shift (currently in dispute and before the Commission).
These proposed changes could significantly impact members. We are continuing to review and challenge them closely.
Your Union’s position
TSU is continuing to push for:
• 5% or CPI (capped at 7%) each year
We believe this is fair given current cost-of-living pressures and to maintain parity with comparable councils such as City of Moreton Bay and Logan City Council.
For context, the latest Brisbane CPI (March quarter) is 4.7%, which means Council’s offer is still falling short.
Next bargaining meeting will be held on Wednesday, 13 May 2026.
Have your say
Your feedback is critical and directly shapes our bargaining position. You can reply to this email or speak with one of your TSU Bargaining Delegates.
If you have colleagues who are not yet TSU members, now is the time to encourage them to join. A stronger membership means a stronger voice - and better outcomes for everyone.
We will continue to keep you updated as bargaining progresses.
